Abstract
In December 2014, the Health Insurance Review and Assessment Service (HIRA) in Korea announced the results of quality assessment data of long-term care hospitals in Korea. In this report, some quality assessment index and analysis were associated urological disease of long-term care hospital patients such as urinary incontinence (UI) and urinary tract infection (UTI). UI was the important and prevalent problem in old-age patients and closed associated with quality of life (QOL). UTI was one of the common reasons for transfer of residents in long-term care hospitals to an acute care facility. However, some results of quality assessment data analysis by HIRA showed the discrepancy regarding to UTI and UI. And also, current quality assessment index regarding UTI and UI was insufficient in evaluating the health and QOL status of patients in long-term care hospitals. In this review, we analyzed current HIRA reports focusing on UTI and UI and also proposed adding new indexes and modifications of present quality assessment.
